New Addition

There's a new addition to my family.

Jackson Campbell Jensen made his debut on November 23, 2011 at 6:48PM, weighing in at 9 lbs, 11 oz.

My first grandchild!

Funky Furniture Fun

I have a really nice coffee table that we refinished. It's a great table, but it tends to scratch my laminate flooring if it gets scooted across the floor. We tend to move it around a lot, getting it out of the way when we play Wii games, etc.
Finally, I found a fun way to solve the problem. I just used a free pattern for bottle covers and placed them on the legs of my table, instead. Now, my table slides across the floor effortlessly. Here's a nice pattern from CrochetRoo .

Modern Make-Over

Did you know you may be able to have your metal furniture painted by your local Auto Body Shop? Yesterday's Nate Berkus Show has the details. What a wonderful finish.

I love this transformation, and had no idea how affordable it could be. I'm a big fan of Nate, click on over for tons of great decorating ideas.

Leggo My Logo!

Here's one thing you can do with those crocheted yo-yo's...spirit barrettes, pins or scrunchies. Don't you just LOVE these? I'm making some for a high school group in their school colors, too.

Yippee! for Yo-Yo's

Do you just love all those crafts you can make with fabric yo-yo's? What's that...you don't sew? No problem, try your hand at these adorable crochet yo-yo's.
I am having a blast working up these little gems. Think I will turn them into barrettes and other hair accessories.

Perhaps make some in school/team colors?

You can find the free tutorial HERE.

Bottle Cap Bracelet & Barrette

Just wanted to share a couple more ideas for bottle caps.

I made the barrette using the same general principle as the Holiday Pin, filling the back with hot glue, and placing the barrette into the glue before it hardens.

The bracelet is assembled using elastic cord, threaded through the edges of the crochet, hidden along the back of the bracelet.

More Bottle Caps

I bought this sheet of Christmas stickers, and realized they were the perfect size for embellishing bottle caps.

So, I spray painted the caps, and attached the stickers. I finished off the front with a healthy coating of polyurethane. Then, I turned them over, filled the inside with hot glue, and gently placed a pinback into the glue, making sure to position it for proper function.

Easy Holiday Pin

Last year I made a Holiday Pin from pipe cleaners.
This year's pin is made from a bottle cap.

I found a number of patterns for crocheting over bottle caps, got the general idea, and then made them my own way. You can find plenty of ideas from searching "bottle cap crochet". Once you have your bottle cap covered, just add a bow and a safety pin (or pin back), and you are ready to show off your holiday spirit.

Cool Coolie!

If you don't already know, I am a hopeless Mt. Dew addict, preferring mine from a can. So, when I put up an earlier post about a coffee cup cozy, the wheels were turning. Now, I needed something to keep my precious soda nice and cold.

I measured the can, chose my fabric and got to sewing. The cutting measurements are: 4.5" x 12", with a point marked, starting 2" from one end. I used the same fleece for my inner layer, and elastic cord for the button loop.

I love how it turned out, and I really like the fabric. If you are a soda, or beer, drinker who prefers cans, whip one of these up to keep it cold. Could be nice stocking stuffer.

Pretty, pretty easy...

Isn't this turning out pretty? It is pretty easy, too. I've got 3 or 4 panels left to go, I just really wanted to share it with you. The pattern is free from Lion Brand, click here to get it.
I'm making this one in baby pastels, but I think this bit of loveliness would look great in any color combination.
